Emergency Department (ED) Navigation
A Gosnold Recovery Specialist works in the emergency departments throughout the Commonwealth hospitals to assist and intervene with individuals that come into the hospital with substance use disorder issues. The primary objective of this collaboration is to motivate the patient to accept treatment and facilitate referral to the appropriate level of care.
Gosnold is working cooperatively with hospital staff and physicians to improve the screening, identification, intervention and referral of substance dependent patients admitted to the emergency department and on medical floors.
Gosnold maintains a constant presence in the following hospital emergency rooms:
The Substance Use Prevention Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation
South Shore Community Partners in Prevention
The average amount of time it takes for a patient to be connected to care after entering the emergency department is under 3 hours.
