Gosnold's Prevention Division
At Gosnold, we not only treat addiction; we aim to prevent it. Prevention and early intervention offer hope and promise of averting addictive disease. Gosnold took the lead on a call for community action and created the Prevention Division in 2014.
Scope of Need
Rates of youth alcohol use, the legalization of marijuana in Massachusetts, and the nation’s opioid crisis are prevalent health concerns that affect parents and caregivers.
Addiction is a public health crisis that directly or indirectly affects almost every American.
- Approximately 88,000 Americans die from alcohol-attributed causes each year, making alcohol the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States. *
- An estimated 2.1 million people ages 12 or older had an opioid use disorder, and nearly 30 percent of those who use marijuana may have some degree of marijuana use disorder. *
Our Model
Utilizing evidence based strategies; Gosnold’s prevention program is a comprehensive effort to reduce the effects of drugs and alcohol. Our initiative brings together various sectors of the community–health, education, business, government and the general public in a planned and collaborative way.
